Halò! Is mise Seumas Uallas. Tha mi a' fuireach ann an Glaschu, ach tha mi à Lios MoChuda. 'S e oileanach a th' annam aig an Oilthigh Glaschu. Chaidh mo thogail ann am baile beag agus dh'ionnsaich mi gun robh ainm Gàidhlig air, ‘s e sin a bha a' togail m' aire, tha mi a' smaointinn. Tron t-samhradh 2009, rinn mi cùrsa bogaidh a bha a' ruith son cola-deug. Beagan làithean as dèidh a' chùrsa, mhothaich mi gun robh mi air tòrr Gaidhlig a dhìochuimhneachadh, mar sin chuir mi oidhcheannan còmhraidh air bhog. An uair sin, nì mi m'inntinn suas a dhol air ais dhan oilthigh son Gàidhlig ionnsachadh. Bidh mi cuideachd a' gabhail phàirt anns na clasaichean Gàidhlig a tha an comhairle a' stiùireadh. 'S toil leam a' cleachdadh na làraich-lìn Beag air Bheag agus bidh mi a' coimhead prògraman Gàidhlig air an iPlayer son grèim fhaighinn air Gàidhlig nas luaithe. ‘S e deagh rud a th' ann caraid le Gàidhlig fhaighinn son a bhith a' bruidhinn air am fòn. Ged a ‘s e neach-ionnsachaidh a th' annam, tha mi diongmhalta son a bhith fileanta anns a' Ghàidhlig agus ga cleachdadh nam bheatha làitheil. ‘S e ‘'Cùm Gàidhlig Beò' a' h-abairtean as fhèarr leam.

Hi, i'm Jamie Wallace. I live in Glasgow but I'm from Lesmahagow. I'm a student at Glasgow University. I was brought up in a wee village that I found out had a Gaelic name - that was the seed of inspiration I think. Then in summer 2009, I took part in an intensive Gaelic course over two weeks. After the course, as the days passed I was forgetting my Gaelic so I started an informal Gaelic conversation group. I then decided to go back to university to learn Gaelic. I also participate in Gaelic lessons that the council in Glasgow organise. I like to use the Beag air Bheag site and watch Gaelic programmes on BBC iPlayer to help get to grips with Gaelic quicker. I think a good tip to learn would be to find a Gaelic speaking friend to talk to on the phone often! Despite being a beginner, I'm determined to master the language and use it in my everyday life! 'Cùm Gàidhlig Beò' is my favourite phrase.

Kaye Adams was debating the Gaelic language on 15th April on BBC Radio Scotland. I had an opportunity to speak...
